I wanted to go over what is probably the most frequently asked question I get when I'm called by somebody who's been involved in an accident. And that question is, what is my case worth?
And when I get that question, I say to the caller, I will answer that question after you answer this question for me. The caller is anxious to find out about the value of their case so they say of course! And then I say to the caller, how do you like my tie? Then there's some silence and the caller says well, I can't see your tie, so I really can't comment on it. And I say the same thing is true about your personal injury case.
I don't know about the liability of your case. I don't know about your past medical bills; your future medical bills; past lost wages; future lost wages. I don't know how much pain you have endured. I don't know how long you have suffered or whether or not you have a permanent disability. And I don't know about all of the aspects of your personal injury case.
So if you speak to a lawyer who says to you, ‘yes, I will tell you the value of your case' I would not hire that lawyer if it is very early on in your case.
Or if you go online and see a personal injury settlement calculator where you plug in numbers that comes up with a value, I wouldn't believe that either because you need to have all of this information before you can properly evaluate a case.
So if you have any questions about your personal injury case, give us a call we'll be happy to tell you what you need to know and there's no cost or obligation.
