This week's edition of our "HCW: How Can We?" Youtube series tells accident and injury victims what they might be doing that can reduce the value of their case. You could be doing this as well and might not even realize that this will have a negative effect on the value of your case.
Insurance adjusters take the position that if a person is injured then they will seek medical care and attention. Generally speaking, if someone is not that injured then they will not go to the doctor, they will not get any type of medical care and treatment and this will greatly reduce the value of a person's personal injury case.
It stands to reason that if a person is injured they will seek medical care and attention in an effort to get better. Further, if you are injured and you make an appointment to see a doctor or other healthcare professional then you will go to that appointment and get examined, received treatment, and schedule a follow-up appointment.
You can greatly reduce the value of your Connecticut injury case if you are constantly canceling appointments with your doctor, physical therapist, chiropractor, or other healthcare professional. If there is some reason why you need to cancel an appointment, you should let your medical provider know the reason and you should immediately reschedule another appointment at that particular time.
It is very important that you attend all appointments for your medical providers. There may come a time when you have to cancel an appointment which is understandable. However, this should be done very sparingly and an explanation and follow-up appointment should be scheduled at the time you call to reschedule.
If an injured party has large gaps in treatment, is canceling appointments, is not following through with the doctor's recommendations, then the value of that person's case will be greatly reduced.
